Player Eligibility
Player Grade/Age Classifications
MYF's player eligibility classifications are not wholly grade-based or age-based. Rather, MYF employs a hybrid structure for player classification, using school grade in combination with age-ranges for that grade. The purpose is to insure that, in spite of certain special circumstances, players are playing with developmentally similar players. The following graph illustrates and defines MYF's player eligibility classifications:

6th | 10/11/12 | 12 | 12 in 6thgrade cannot turn 13 on or before 12/31 |
7th | 11/12/13 | 13 | 13 in 7thgrade cannot turn 14 on or before 12/31 |

For determining the Participant's age (protected age), the terms, "on or before" and "as of," are intended to have the same definition (age cut-off date).
Forward Promotion Rule: On rare occasions, MYF recognizes that there will be players who size and/or abilities greatly exceed those of his/her peers in the same division. Therefore, MYF reserves the right to forward promote said player(s) to a level more appropriate only when there is a perceived benefit to all parties concerned.
